The ROI story of Quootz
What is the result of a recruitment process? Not just immediately after the hiring, but rather over a longer period of time, so that you can properly see how successful the working relationship really is.
Quootz hired Lloyd Hobo as its new account manager in October 2023. What has this move brought the company and owner Bas Könst personally? Bas tells his ROI story.
Beforehand: not so many expectations
Our company has since grown into a holding company with multiple business units. As a result, it became too much to do all the sales on our own. When we started the search for a new colleague with Velde, I honestly didn’t have many expectations. Of course I thought: we are looking for a fairly easy profile. Just a young, fast salesman who understands the sales profession. In my mind, that wouldn’t have to be a huge challenge.
I did expect that there might be a little more candidates. In the end there were four or five candidates, but Lloyd really stood out. He had something, a certain charisma and energy. And I also saw real potential. His career was going up nicely by then and I had the feeling: if we are a bit careful with him, we can have a lot of fun together.
Reality: new dynamics
When Lloyd started, I immediately noticed how quickly he picked things up. Even though we didn’t really have an extensive familiarisation program – rather a bit of “here it is, good luck with it” – he picked up the initiative himself very well. I think that’s really important.
What he had to get used to was the longer sales cycle with us. He came from a world where you could make a deal every day. With us, it’s really months, sometimes years building a relationship before a deal falls through. But he adapted very well to that. We also talked about it regularly: you don’t have to make a deal every day here. Here it’s about the long term, building relationships, gaining trust.
He also brought in good ideas in terms of content. He gave feedback on how we did things and we really did something with it. I really appreciate that. He is not someone who just executes, but actively thinks along with us.

The result: peace and energy
Personally, it has brought me peace of mind. Because of Lloyd, I no longer have to do everything myself in sales. This allows me to focus more on the other business units and the bigger picture. That was also the goal. I also notice that it is nice to have a team that you can build on together. You no longer have to think up and implement everything yourself.
For Quootz, it has very concretely brought more sales and more movement in the marketplace. More people “on the street” simply means more opportunities. Lloyd also brings new energy and dynamics to the team. This not only ensures better results, but also a better atmosphere and cooperation among each other. We have taken his ideas about marketing and positioning seriously.
If you look at the Return on Investment, I can only say: yes, it is positive. Financially, such a procedure costs something, of course, but if Lloyd makes a few deals, you don’t talk about that anymore. And then there are the soft factors: a better team, a better atmosphere, new energy. That weighs at least as heavily.
